Dear Pets Ireland Board Members,

On February 2nd 2011, some 30,000 hare coursing supporters and blood sport enthusiasts will gather for the finals of the hare coursing season. Yes, that’s right, 30,000 people from across Ireland and overseas will gather, without hesitation, to be there for a blood sport they so desperately love and cherish, and it won’t take much persuading all those enthusiasts to attend, as a matter of fact, I have no doubt they’ll be lining up to be part of this terribly cruel spectacle. They’ll dress up in their finest to watch on, laugh and joke as innocent hares who have been trapped in the wild will be painfully torn and thrown into the air, before finally suffering from broken bones and heart attacks. Click here to see hare coursing at its best. So, the million dollar question is, who’ll be there for the animals?

Animal Rights Action Network (ARAN) and our friends at the Irish Council Against Bloodsports (ICABS) are once again uniting for a joint, lively demonstration, where we’ll gather and march during the finals to let the people of Tipperary and Ireland know that blood sports, and hare coursing, has no place in modern society. We desperately need you to stand with us, and please, do not leave it to someone else. We’re asking our most dedicated supporters, the ones who stand with us in critical times like this, to please take a day off work, school or college and make arrangements now to be with us in Clonmel Co Tipperary.

Two coaches will leave from Dublin and Cork city on the morning of the event and to safely arrive back at origin that afternoon. Cars will also be going from various cities around Ireland.

Please mark you diary now and RSVP for a seat on our bus from either Dublin or Cork, bring a friend along to if you can! We’re asking you not to leave this email and appeal to other people, it’s by far the easiest thing to do — sadly there won’t be 30,000 people there to stop hare coursing cruelty as much as we’d like, with your help we certainly could make this by far the most largest coursing demonstration in recent years, but only with your attendance.

Make it your New Year’s resolution to re-double your efforts to stamp out animal abuse and blood sports in Ireland. Please RSVP with us today and commit yourself to just one day that will make a huge difference. Plus, you’ll get to meet so much other kind and caring people, who just like you, abhor cruelty to animals.

Thank you for supporting ARAN and for all you do to speak out against animal abuse,

P.S. We’re asking all our most dedicated supporters to please take just one day out to be there for the hares and show your opposition to hare coursing and blood sports in Ireland, together I know we can bring this barbaric “sport” to a full stop.
